India and Pakistan are two of the most populous countries on earth, so this conflict could be a significant geopolitical event. India is a predominantly Hindu nation, whereas Pakistan is a predominantly Muslim nation.
Unlike the situation on the Korean peninsula, however, this conflict is not rooted in economics but religion. India and Pakistan are both nuclear-armed nations and, like the Koreans, they have been adversaries since the 1940s. A world war could break out should a substantial conflict breakout between the two nations. However, North Korea is supported by China and possesses nuclear weapons that make it an existential threat to US-backed South Korea.

In addition to the United States, Israel, and the western world, Iran despises a number of its Sunni Arab neighbors, especially the largest of them all, Saudi Arabia. Iran’s only real allies are Syria, Palestinian groups and the Shiite terrorist organizations which Iran sponsors. Same would be true with respect to the United States and European nations. However, due to warming relations with the Arab nations, a good deal of the Sunni Arab world would likely be on Israel’s side. Iran, on the other hand, is a majority Shiite nation currently governed by a rapidly anti-Semitic theocratic regime.Ī potential conflict between Iran and Israel could spread to the rest of the Middle East. Israel is the world’s sole Jewish nation. Of course, there are religious elements to this conflict. Iran appears extremely close to developing a nuclear weapon and has repeatedly threatened to attack Israel. Should China invade Taiwan, it would cause a humanitarian crisis in East Asia and wreak havoc on the world economy. This remains the most probable scenario for World War 3.
